Costume Conundrum? How About Some Medieval Flair?

Halloween is just around the corner...and that means we are starting to think about what to dress up as for the festivities!
My kids have tossed around all sorts of ideas from The Annoying Orange (I'm glad that one was quickly tossed out) to almost every Disney Princess! The classic ghost, black cat, and vampiress were also in the running. We've narrowed it down to a Smurfette, a Lalaloopsy Doll, and Rapunzel. :)
My eight year old is quite adamant that Rapunzel will definitely require a Medieval dress (with some Renaissance Fair Flair), long flowing blond hair, and lots of sparkly makeup.
We found the perfect discounted costume to give her the total Rapunzel look!

I love the "crushed velvet" look and feel of this outer shell. The length is a bit too long, but a quick hem of the skirt will fix that. Tromping from house to house, I don't want her dragging the bottom edge while trick-or-treating!
What really makes this Medieval dress is the lace-up front! It was very easy to simply thread the front and tie it into a bow at the top! This is my daughter's favorite part of the entire costume!
My favorite part? That this is the type of costume that we'll hang on to...I have a feeling we'll be able to use this one again! It's a flexible outfit that we can (more than likely) use for school plays, other Halloween costume ideas, or just for dress-up!
And, if Mom ever gets invited to a grown-up Halloween party (and can go)...I might just take out the hem and borrow this classic! The adjustable shoulder straps make this easy to fit bigger sizes too!
So, if you still need an idea for All Hallow's Eve this year (for either the kids or yourself), think Medieval!
